As your local electric cooperative, we want you to know that we are here for you. We pride ourselves on doing what's right for our members, communities, and employees, so we're relaying some important updates.
Office Closures & Payment Information
Due to the threat of COVID-19, United Power offices remain closed until further notice to protect both our members and our employees.
Remember, you don't need to come to a United Power office to make a payment. We offer several convenient ways for you to access your account and make payments that are fee-free, secure and will post to your account immediately.
Assistance for Members
Having Trouble Paying Your Bill?
Out of care for our members, United Power has temporarily suspended disconnects for non-payment due to impacts from the COVID 19 situation. We are continuing all other operations as usual, so you will still receive a bill and alerts about your account status. Please remember you will still be responsible for payment of your energy usage during this time. We encourage you to pay what you can when you can and to stay in contact with us on your situation.
Advancing 2020 Capital Credit Retirements
United Power has opted to distribute Capital Credit refunds earlier than in prior years. In past years these retirements were made in August, but the United Power Board felt members could use the economic relief now. We are returning $5.5 million to members and nearly all members will benefit. Watch for these refunds to be issued beginning in May. Learn more here.
Co-op Cares Fund Established
United Power’s Board of Directors approved a special allocation of $250,000 in unclaimed capital credits to be used to help offset electric bills for members impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic – particularly those who have been affected by illness and job losses. The Co-op Cares Fund will be available for assistance through the end of 2020, or until the fund is depleted. Learn more here.
In addition to the Co-op Cares Fund, United Power has various programs to help members keep their accounts current including extended payment arrangements, budget billing and other assistance programs. Please contact us at 303-637-1300 if you are experiencing a financial hardship due to COVID 19 and we will help you find all the available assistance options.
Please Keep a Safe Distance From Crews
For your safety, and ours, please maintain a safe distance from our crews. They're on the front line keeping the lights on and we'd appreciate your help keeping them safe and healthy. Approaching lineworkers can compromise their health during this pandemic and it also distracts them while they are performing critical work. If you need assistance, please call our office at 303-637-1300.
Annual Meeting Held Virtually
United Power held a "telephone town hall" virtual Annual Meeting and certified the director election on April 15. See the meeting summary and election results here.
